A Quiet Moment
Recently I had quiet moment whilst away, staring out to sea and letting my thoughts wander. It’s hard not to notice the weight of everything happening in the world right now, conflict, uncertainty, and challenges for some closer to home.
It got me thinking about the challenges we have to face and decisions we need to make as board directors.
When the stakes are high and the environment feels unsettled, the way we show up in the boardroom matters more than ever.
For me, decision-making on a board isn’t just about the facts in front of us. It’s about:
-Understanding different perspectives – even when they challenge our own.
-Acknowledging the emotions in the room – because decisions don’t happen in a vacuum.
-Protecting what matters – our integrity, relationships, and the trust we hold on behalf of others.
The world might feel heavy right now, but in the boardroom, we can choose to create spaces that are grounded, respectful, and forward-looking. Every decision we make has a ripple effect, just like the waves in front of me that day.
