Connection creates choice and choice creates control
CONNECT TO CREATE
My big word is Connection.
(A big word is something that drives you.
Something that inspires you.
Something that links everything you do.)
For me, connection creates choice and choice creates control.
It starts with the individual.
When we are connected to people, to place, to purpose, we see more possibilities.
Connection creates choice:
Choice for action.
Choice for self-care.
And those choices give us control:
Control of our health, physical and mental.
Control of our decisions.
Control of our finances.
Control of our support networks.
I reckon the same is true for organisations and teams.
When we are connected to our mission, our communities, and each other, we can choose the right priorities, adapt to challenges, and create a future worth working for.
For boards, connection is the foundation of good governance.
It shapes strategic plans that live beyond the page, decisions that reflect shared purpose, and futures built with intention.
For leaders, connection fuels influence and trust.
It gives them the choice to inspire, to listen, and to act with clarity.
For mentors, connection opens the path to growth, for themselves and the people they guide.
Humans are hardwired to connect. Yet the research tells us genuine connection is at an all-time low. That’s why I make it my focus, my craft, my daily practice.
Because when we connect, we can start to create the kind of future we want.
I wonder what connections you have created that have given you choices and ultimately some control?
