The Cost of Doing the Wrong Things Well

I made a conscious decision a number of years ago to step away from the front line.

Not because I stopped caring.

But because I realised I could have an even bigger impact by supporting the organisations already doing the heavy lifting.

Every day, there are incredible organisations changing lives. They have passionate people, dedicated volunteers, trusted relationships, funding, local knowledge and years of experience.

For me, it's never been about building another empire. It's about strengthening the organisations that already exist. We don't always need another organisation doing the work. Sometimes we simply need to help the great organisations we already have do what they do even better.

That's where I found my place.

I help organisations get their back of house right. Governance. Strategy. Leadership. Culture. Planning. Systems. The things that often get pushed aside because everyone is busy delivering services. Sometimes it's facilitating a strategic planning day. Sometimes it's reviewing governance. Sometimes it's mentoring a CEO or Chair. And sometimes it's simply being a safe, trusted sounding board for leaders as they navigate complexity, uncertainty and change.

In today's increasingly complex and ever changing environment, those foundations matter more than ever.

When boards function well, leaders are supported, teams are connected and organisations have a clear direction, they can spend less time fighting internal challenges and more time improving the quality of life for the people and communities they serve.

I've always been passionate about creating healthy and connected communities. These days, I do that by helping the organisations at the heart of those communities become healthier, stronger and better equipped for the future.
